On June 30, the 2026 MG5 officially entered the market with a total of four trims at a price range of 59,900 – 69,900 yuan (8,360 – 9,760 USD). As a facelift model, the new car mainly underwent configuration upgrades.
The 2026 MG5 continues the design of the previous model with a fastback shape and added two new exterior colors: orange and gray, on top of red and white.
The front face features a large polygonal waterfall grille and slender headlights, combined with a rib-decorated engine cover.
A ducktail is integrated into the rear, paired with dual exhaust outlets at the bottom, which further enhance the sportiness of the vehicle.
Positioned as a compact sedan, the length, width, and height of the 2026 MG5 remain unchanged: 4715/1842/1473(1480) mm, respectively, and the wheelbase is 2680 mm.
The car body has a torsional rigidity of 25866 Nm/deg and 65% of the body is made up of high-strength steel. There are also six airbags throughout the interior.
Power continues to come from a 1.5L and 1.5T engine:
The standard fuel tank capacity is 50 L.
Inside, the interior added a new color combination – orange/black, while the layout remains largely unchanged from the previous model, including a three-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, an 12.3-inch instrument panel, and a 12.3-inch (or 10.25-inch for the entry-level trim) floating central control screen.
The physical buttons under the central control screen are retained.
The seats are a mix of leather and fabric. Additionally, the high-end trim’s sound system has been upgraded to eight high-fidelity speakers and the newly added 256-color ambient lights can change color and adjust brightness automatically based on the music rhythms and external lighting conditions.
Other configurations such as OTA updates, an AI voice assistant, and level 2 advanced driving assistance capabilities are present.
